From my research, this is the kiss of death for the machine. This was a pretty good product until the HO3 error message hit. Look for something more reliable.
When I bought this in 05 it was almost $300, maybe $350, so to have it for less than $200 is a decent deal in my opinion. The resolution is not too bad although compared to players today, I'm sure it seems crappy. I have been using it weekly if not daily for the past 2 years in my bedroom and it's still kickin just as good as it was when I bought it. The battery life is ok.to watch it at an acceptable brightness, I only got about one movie out of it since there was no point in starting another if I couldnt finish it. I dont know why I didnt think to review this product sooner but better late than never right. I have had this player for over 3 years now and have not had any problems with it whatsoever. I have used this on planes and the adustable screen is quite handy.
(choppy video, menus or subs don't display properly, etc). I like to make (ahem) legal copies of my movies from DVD-9 to DVD-5 using the cheapest media I can find which can result in discs that some players can't handle very well. With one exception (which was probably my fault) my DVD-LS91 has not had an issue with any of them.
I fixed it per Panasonics specifications but got it again after the next play. Upon researching this error code; I found that this error is so common - this model should have been recalled - save your money. Months after I purchased the player I recieved the dreaded HO3 error code. However, even with the directions I have it won't work at all now.
warranty has expired. After reading the reviews, I am not alone in having the "Error H03" message and a nonfunctional player after the 12 mo. Both the LS80 and LS91 have 6 hr battery lives. This DVD player was well used in the ~13 months since purchase until suddenly "Error H03" was displayed on the screen and the player could not read the DVD. After looking into having it repaired, (cost being from $95-160, depending on what was found) we decided to purchase the LS80 ($155) as we had this model before and had no problems for over two years until our toddler son dropped it and it subsequently stopped working. Note, there were similar reviews re: the LS82 ($180) model, which we considered as that battery life is 12 hours.
